What to do once you reach Barcelona?

Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is close to the old town. It is located southwest of the city and is one of the biggest airports in Spain. Once you arrive, you have four options to reach the city centre.

Shuttle:

If you are coming with a small group of university friends, you can take a shuttle service between the airport and city centre. It will be cheaper than taking taxis.

Price: €10-€15 (pp) . Depending on the location of your flat, the number of luggage and the size of the group.

Here you have different web pages where you can check their services and rates.

Bus:

A cheaper way to reach Barcelona city centre is by bus. Aerobus is a bus service you can find in both terminals at the airport. It leaves every five minutes, and takes approximately half an hour. After some stops, it ends at Plaça Cataluña (Barcelona’s downtown). Aerobus works from 05:30 to 00:30.

Price: €5,90 single ticket.

Train:

The airport train station is only in Terminal 2. But if you are landing at Terminal 1, a free ride (transfer buses) will pick you up to T2. This train leaves around every 30 minutes and it takes approximately 25 minutes.

The stops inside the city (Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia and Clot) are all connected by metro stops.
This service works from 05:42 to 23:38.

Price: One way ticket from Barcelona Airtport to Barcelona City Centre: €4,10.
A T-10 ticket (1 zone): €10,30. Multi-person travel card.

Taxi:

There are a lot of taxis outside the terminal. That’s why you shouldn’t trust any drivers who talk to you inside the building. It is a good idea to check a map before the trip and having a route in mind.

The taxi service is located on floor 0 in T1 and outside the buildings in T2.

The journey from the airport to the city centre takes between 20 and 40 minutes. The trip will be longer if it starts from T2.

Public taxis can apply three types of fares. They must be visible inside the taxi or on a sticker over the window. Check that the amount payable is indicated on the taximeter.

– €1,03 per kilometer.
– Plus €2,10 beginning of the trip.
